Week 0: At-Home MTC
8/4/2025Oi! Hello everyone!
This is the first mission email! If you're wondering why it's week 0 -- that's just the best way to count, starting at 0.
Anyway, I was set apart as a full-time missionary yesterday, and it was crazy wearing the nametag for the first time. Not much has happened since then because my first day of at-home MTC was my P-Day (Preparation Day)! It was good though because I still have a ton to do to prepare!
This morning, my mom and I went to the DMV and found out they don't extend licenses or state ID's past your 21st birthday. That kind of stinks cause that's when I'll still be gone. I guess the Brazil police will have to accept an expired ID if (when) I get arrested.
That and one introductory zoom meeting is about all I've done so far as a full-time missionary haha. I will have my first Portuguese class tonight, which I'm very excited for. Shoutout to my Latin scholars out there! (I'm gonna have to actually learn how to speak a language, eheu.)
One thing I thought I'd do each week is share a hymn that impacted me that week. Yesterday, my stake president told me about a hymn he heard performed by the BYU Men's Chorus live: I Love the Lord. I had heard this same one many times before because it comes from one of their best albums: Set Apart! We listened to it on the way home from church that day, and the words are amazing; the Spirit was so strong during it. It would be amazing to hear in person, I'm kind of jealous.
That's it for this week. If you want to forward these emails to anyone, feel free, and you can find them all on my mission blog. I set up a service to (hopefully) post my email automatically each week.
Till next week, tchau!
P.S. for those who don't know: MTC = Missionary Training Center, where I'll be going in person next week!
